BOULDER, Colo. – Community members are invited to attend a film screening and roundtable discussion about guaranteed income ahead of the launch of Elevate Boulder, the city’s guaranteed income pilot project. This event is free and open to the public, registration is required.
Boulder is offering a slate of events to recognize Indigenous Peoples Day, including a Sunday celebration hosted by Right Relationship Boulder at the Dairy Arts Center.
The saying goes that if you give a man a fish he’ll eat for a day, but teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for life. But what if said man already knows how to fish but nothing’s biting? Or maybe the man doesn’t have fishing gear. Sometimes giving people metaphorical fish is exactly the help they need.
The City of Boulder has received a $70,000 grant from Community Foundation Boulder County (CFBC) to support Elevate Boulder, the city’s guaranteed income pilot project which will provide direct cash assistance to support financial stability. Elevate Boulder will provide 200 low-income Boulder households with $500 per month in direct cash assistance for two years, no strings attached. Through this project, the city and community partners hope to help community members become more financially self-sufficient, and foster equity. Applications will open in fall 2023.
