Election Petition: Why 'Star Witness' Asiedu Nketia's Cross-Examination Was Used Against The Petitioner | Politics

John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the NDC in the 2020 election, got his Election Petition dismissed by the Supreme Court of Ghana for lack of merit. In the two-hour judgement of the seven-member panel delivered by Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah last Thursday, March 4, the Justices identified some loopholes in the answers of Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Principal Witness One, when the latter was cross-examined. The Chief Justice describing Johnson Asiedu Nketia as the ‘star witness’ for the Petitioner, John Dramani Mahama stated that the Petitioner was not in “Court to challenge the validity of the figures or data presented by the Chairperson of 1st Respondent that is why in his testimony, he did not provide any data to contradict that of the 1st Respondent.”

You can't stampede us to court, you went to court on 27th of December in 2012 – NDC blasts NPP

You can t stampede us to court, you went to court on 27th of December in 2012 – NDC blasts NPP LISTEN DEC 18, 2020 The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that it will not rush to court to seek redress, following its rejection of the December 7 Presidential election results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC). It has, thus, called on Ghanaians to desist from stampeding the party with calls to challenge the results of the polls at the law court if it feels cheated. Addressing a news conference in Accra on Thursday, to update the media and the public on issues pertaining to the declaration of the elections, the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi said even though the party is aware of its right to proceed to the law court, such decisions will only be considered by the party after it has audited figures from all polling stations across the country and gathered all relevant evidence relating to the elections.
