Authorities have conducted a search and rescue (SAR) operation to find four fishermen who, two days before Christmas, went missing while venturing at sea in Cebu while the province was being battered by gale force winds due to northeast monsoon.

Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Surigao del Norte rendered assistance to at least two passengers and a boat captain from a half-submerged motorbanca off Surigao City on Monday, Aug. 2.
The motorbanca MBCA Fhrenz-2 departed from Dinagat Island bound for Surigao City. While traveling off Barangay Baybay, Surigao City, the motorbanca was battered by huge waves that caused it to submerge.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Surigao del Norte announced on Monday, May 31, that its light station in Surigao is now operational to guide local fishermen and mariners. The light station Surigao, locally known as “Farola,” was located in Barangay Taft, Port Area, Surigao City.

+ April 23, 2021 THE bodies of two more crew members of the ill-fated LCT Cebu Great Ocean were recovered Friday morning, April 23, 2021, raising the death toll from the maritime tragedy to six.
Seven crew members remained missing. Search and rescue operations led by Coast Guard Station (CGS) Surigao del Norte were ongoing.
The bodies of Clint Auxtero and Lemuel Dadivas were separately found in Barangays Balite and Oslao, both in San Francisco town in Surigao del Norte, according to CGS Surigao del Norte chief Elaine Pangilinan.
She said they were identified by the human resources officer of their company. No other details were available.
