vote by lying about the bill. it was just a message you vote. it would have cleared the court, all schools including public schools to give contraception and condoms to six-year-olds. elementary school kids. it s crazy. now you know what rick scott looks like when he is lying. that is a lie. the bill simply guarantees that contraception would remain legally available as it is today. joining us now, former democratic member of the house of representatives debbie powell of florida. she is running to replace rick scott in the united states senate so more than 37 actually voted against contraception. another nine of them didn t bother to show up to vote. it was almost every republican in effect voting against contraception which we thought was something that was settled a long time ago in this country.
however, i don t think they will. .. they will hold their noses over the next few weeks. there might be some who feel they need to speak out against this but i don t get the sense at the moment that the crisis is about to hit rishi sunak and that there is going to be a massive rebellion on this, for one reason in particular. you get a budget through with a finance bill and a finance bill is a confidence vote. if a tory mp votes against a tory mp votes against the finance bill they are in effect voting to say i don t have faith in this government. they would probably lose the whip. it is a massive decision to make. so there may be some, let s wait and see what the reaction is like over the next few days, my gut tells me that there will be some soundings off, but not necessarily some of the big rebellions we have seen. there has been so much rebellions we have seen. there has been so much talk rebellions we have seen. there has been so much talk around - rebellions we have seen. ther
you don t back those big spending bills you are in effect voting to defund police whether you know it or not. if you oppose funding for the cops and you vote against a bill that has funding for the program, we can let other people evaluate what that means. the conclusion, it is republicans, not democrats who supported defunding the police. in other words, ignore your eyes and ears for the past year and a half. it s republicans who took to the streets and in many cases got their way. cities from coast-to-coast opting to take money away from local cops. from los angeles where $150 million was siphoned away from the l.a.p.d. to baltimore where the city council voted to reallocate $22 million for fiscal 2021. to minneapolis where the council there took steps to remove a million dollars from the police department to hire so-called violence interrupters. critics are accusing the
when they went after bain capital. it s a very targeted and very deeply researched approach that the democrats are taking here. what they done is they ve gone into states with key senate races, arkansas, alaska, north carolina, and look to koch subsidiaries and found there are layoffs. at times layoffs that have coin sided with the purchase of millions of dollars worth of ads in a way to portray the brothers and their company as callous as they are trying to further their own political and business agenda. now is this going to work? i think what the allies of the kochs and what other republicans have told me is the republicans tried this with george sorros. it didn t work. it s hard to get individuals not on the ballot to become household names, people you are in effect voting against at the polls. so i do think we need to take that into account.
