Coming to head hours from now in Capitol Hill. Democrats sweeping Election Reform Legislation is on track to hit yet another Gop Filibuster Road block. Now the major question for democrats is could they get Joe Manchin on board with the legislation as it currently stands to show they are united. Some democrats are hoping it could help make their case that Filibuster Reform is needed now in a senate where many of them argue Minority Rights have become minority rule. Also today, president bidens ongoing Infrastructure Negotiation Team will be on Capitol Hill to discuss the proposal being drafted now by a bipartisan group of 20 senators, 10 democrats, 10 republicans, but there are still major hold ups. This issue getting this bill passed into law almost certainly will not happen, nor will splitting this up into smaller pieces, a polarizing issue dividing the party, no sign this is going anywhere. And in a matter of minutes republicans will block it on the floor. So this is going to fail. So what comes next for democrats . Have they laid out what theyre going to do . Democrats, im learning, are plotting a series of hearings in order to provide a spotlight on this issue, draw attention to this issue, particularly in the State Of Georgia. Last hour we heard from the chief of police in minneapolis who really became a familiar face to all of us covering this story last summer. He is the man who fired Derek Chauvin. And he was asked about the Departments Training in terms of use of force. Just remember this is all in the context that then officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyds neck for nearly 10 minutes. This morning the jury heard from the Emergency Physician who initially treated George Floyd when he arrived at the hospital. This doctor revealing he found none of the internal indicators that typically cause a Heart Attack and that this doctor says he believes georged floyd died from lack of oxygen rather than as weve been hearing from the defense, that his own heart was failing him. Mr. Floyd had been in arrest for by this time 60 minutes. I determined that the likelihood of any mea
minneapolis police chief said the acts that chauvin took were totally unnecessary. the witnesses on the stand this morning was the doctor who pronounced george floyd dead at the hospital. was your leading theory of george floyd s cardiac arrest oxygen deficiency? that was one of the more likely possibilities. i felt that at the time, based on the information i had, it was more likely than the other possibilities. and, doctor, is there another name for death by oxygen deficiency. asphyxia. it s well known that any amount of time a patient spends in cardiac arrest without immediate cpr markedly decreases the chance of a good outcome. none of the officers on the scene performed cpr on george floyd. the doctor said he believed floyd s death was not likely from drug use but instead from suffocation or asphyxia. the defense team tried to combat that conclusion. so when someone ingests fentanyl, it can cause them to feel very sleepy because of an increased carbon dioxide
