Heaven gained one of the good guys when Robert “Bob” Novack, 90, a lifelong resident of Duluth, passed away May 9, 2023. He attended St. Peter and Paul school and graduated from Denfeld. He married Lorraine Breole in 1954 and they raised 5 children. Bob worked for the DWP Railroad for 47 years and was also a Longshoreman. Throughout the years, Bob enjoyed league bowling, Railroad Retirement gatherings, attending the grandchildren’s events, meticulously caring for his home and lawn(!) and was an avid Jeopardy fan. His kind, generous spirit and quick wit will be missed by us all. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; son, James; brothers, Edward, Gerald, and twin, Richard; sisters, Dorothy Miller and Irene Swallow. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Novack, Pam (Rick) Christenson, Cindy Beaudin and Mary Ortt; as well as 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and cousins. ....
Irene Adeline Roggenkamp, age 95 of Brainerd, passed away February 10th at Edgewood Vista Memory Care Baxter. Irene was born November 1, 1927 to Adolph and Florence (Miller) Neisess, in Tintah, MN, the 2nd of 3 daughters. The family moved to Wadena where Mom graduated high school with her older sister, Evelyn, because Mom’s class was so small. ....

Darlene Marie (Tokarczyk) Johnson, 79, of Duluth died peacefully on July 7, 2022 from dementia. She was born on October 13, 1942, to Edward and June (Hoving) Tokarczyk. After graduating from Duluth East High School in 1960 she attended UMD. In high school and college she was an accomplished majorette and participated in one of the first Christmas City of the North Parades. Darlene met the love of her life, Glenn Johnson, while working at Bridgeman’s on 14th Avenue East and Superior Street. Darlene worked as a waitress, Glenn was an accountant upstairs in their corporate office. They eventually married on June 8, 1963 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Duluth. They built their family home on Dodge Street where they were blessed with 3 daughters in 28 months, and owned it for 59 years. Darlene went back to work at Lakeside Bridgeman’s until 1979 when she got a job with the City of Duluth Water & Gas Department. In 1984 she took a job in the City Auditor’s Office, retiring fr ....
