order to inform exactly how much retail we should have, how it should be sized and placed within the site. we studied the sizes of the shops from how many different the range of the sizes of the shops, how many were on each block, what is the difference between a corner store with a restaurant and a midblock shop, and we looked to emulate these features that were really consistent across the city in mission rock, which we believe will be the main street of mission bay. we actually went so far as to introduce an entirely different chapter of our controls. just to preview it, we ve had the urban design team and the architecture landscape team work together to ensure that those retail spaces on the ground floor of each of our buildings is really working to activate and enhance the public realm along the streets themselves. we ll also be looking at a siteside programmisit siteside programming for all of the retail, so we ll be taking a holistic approach to look at where the res

there is such a degree of uncertainty with it when you don t even know at the end of the day after months or maybe a year of going through the process whether you re even going to be able to go into that space, that it it s very discouraging for potential retailers to come into our neighborhood commercial corridors, so i hope that we re going to be taking a look at expediting the process to increase the certainty and enable retailers to be able to get in as quickly as possible. also, i think flexiblity is key, and i heard a lot of that today. and i i think it s with the changing conditions of retail in the city and in the country, i think it s very important that a diversity of uses be able to go into ground floor commercial spaces, including professional services. and one of your colleagues, supervisor peskin has been promoting legislation that would restrict that. we would really encourage diversity. thank you very much. next speaker, please. good afternoon, super
legend. flyers owner and founder ed snyder has died after a long battle with cancer. his death comes two days after the flyers scosh a spot score a spot in the playoffs. they starting point round one against the capitols on thursday. matt o donnell takes a look at ed snyder s enormous legacy. the flyers win the stanley cup. reporter: ed snyder secured an nhl team back in 196650 years ago, the philadelphia flyers won who would be two consecutive stanley cups. it s very thrilling to know when we had our first parade going down broad street. starting our very first season nobody came, and seven years later there were 2 million people. this is a hockey town. reporter: snyder was born the son of a grocery store owner in 1933 in washington, d.c. he had to teach a region that had little exposure to hockey to understand the game. they did that and more. the flyers have one of the most passionate fan bases in the nhl. mr. sniermd was mr. snyder was a shrewd businessman.
he will be remembered to a generation as the owner of the flyers. but ed snyder meant so much more to philadelphia and its fans. ed snyder was born edward malcolm snyder on january 61,933rd in washington d.c. his first venture in philadelphia sports was as a minority owner of the eagles in 1964. but when the nhl was awarded conditional franchises in the middle of the decade ed snyder made his move. at 33 years of age i ended upstarting the philadelphia flyers hockey team. reporter: in 1967 the philadelphia flyers were born. he needed a building for his team to play in. so he had ed snider built the spectrum. it was beginning of the unique relationship between a man, a team, and a city that would stand close to 50 years. but in seven years of buying in, and building, ed snyder brought a championship to philadelphia. the flyers win the stanley cup. the flyers win the stanley cup. the flyers won their first of two consecutive stanley cups. the flyers have won the sec
