Over 5,000 consumers in Greater Noida may lose power connections due to unpaid dues. The Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) has identified consumers with dues up to Rs 1 lakh each during an ongoing anti-defaulter campaign. The focus is on rural consumers with long-standing arrears, and the NPCL has already disconnected around 200 connections from rural areas. To avoid disconnection, NPCL offers various options for defaulters to settle their dues.
The power department in Noida has started disconnecting power connections of defaulters who haven't paid their dues. Around 60,000 defaulters owe Rs 200 crore in dues. The disconnection drive will continue till Feb 15. The power department is also preparing a list of defaulters and assigning targets to take action against them. The move comes after many people did not take advantage of the one-time settlement scheme for dues.
