Ryan Burns of the Lost Coast Outpost has won the third annual “40th Award” for
local journalism relevant to those who are sometimes left behind economically. Honorable
mentions went to Thadeus Greenson of the North Coast Journal and Sage Alexander of the
Eureka Times-Standard.
Ticket sales will benefit Maker’s Apron’s mission to “inspire environmentally sustainable behavior by providing affordable materials and educational programs to the community.”
“The plastic bags and utensils we sometimes use to bring our own lunches to school or work are not recyclable, so (in this workshop) we're going to make reusable things like food wraps and utensil pouches. That's the first R in the four Rs of waste diversion: reduce, reuse, recycle, rot," Texas said.
