welcome to hardtalk. i m stephen sackur. women are still fighting for equality all over the world. even in long established democracies like the uk, plenty of evidence suggests that from the workplace to the law courts, there is an awful long way to go. my guest today, baroness helena kennedy, has been trying to loosen the grip of the patriarchy in the british legal system for five decades. is she winning the battles that really matter? baroness helena kennedy, welcome to hardtalk. nice to be here. it s great to have you. you have had a pretty extraordinary legal career spanning some five decades. yes, i know. you used to talk about a system that smelled of the patriarchy, a man s world. do you still see britain s legal system like that today? oh, yes. i mean, i think that we haven t yet managed to remove that power imbalance. it s still there. and, of course, a lot of work has been done and we ve you know, reformed certain areas of law and we ve seen women in many more posit

the uk and ireland. this is the story of molly, one of those stolen dogs, and the fight to bring her back home. are you good? i would actually rather know that she was dead than to imagine the sort of people that she s with right now. a miniature, bitch, two year old, lads. it s the smell that gets - you first and then hundreds of these eyes - looking back at you. i have seen people taking photographs of dogs. i guarantee that i can look on dog for sale pages and see those pictures. only a very, very small percentage of people are actually prosecuted for this. good girl! she still has love to give and still has faith i in the human race. good girl, good girl! we haven t stopped fighting for even a single day, and we never will. are you good? one of my favourite things that i remember about molly is that she just had so much love inside herfor all of us. she s just so lovable and kind. the last photo that i took of molly, molly just stood there behind the flowers. in those pho

now, if you spent any part of lockdown dancing alone in the kitchen, this show is for you. now, for many of us, dancing offers a shortcut to happiness and escape. over the years on the travel show, we ve picked up some pretty nifty dance moves all over the world and have failed miserably at others. so here, for your entertainment and our eternal embarrassment, are our attempts to remain co ordinated under pressure and in front of a camera. let s kick off with my trip to south africa back in 2018, when i tried to keep up with a truly talented group of performers who have made news all over the world thanks to an energetic form of dancing known as pantsula. they set the bar a little high for me, though. fast-paced singing. this is pa ntsula. this style of dancing is absolutely incredible. it s fast paced, it s energetic, and it s technical. but for young south africans, it s so much more than this. it s a movement that encapsulates storytelling, fashion and social expression.
