Westlake reminisces about Dover Elementary School as demolition begins

WESTLAKE, Ohio When Dover Elementary School opened in 1949, it was considered a modern school. The two-story brick building at 2300 Dover Center Road was about 44,000 square feet and sat on 14 acres. An addition was added in 1970 to accommodate increased enrollment.
That enrollment dispersed to the new $38 million Westlake elementary school campus in 2019, as students from Dover joined their pre-kindergarten through fourth-grade classmates from Holly Hill, Hilliard and Bassett elementary schools in the district’s newest “modern” building.
