Man fell to death at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, park officials say

The Detroit News A 21-year-old Metro Detroit man lost his footing and fell to his death at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula, authorities said. The man was identified as Dominic Rotondi of Lincoln Park. Rotondi, for reasons . unknown,  stepped over a fence Saturday at the top of Miners Castle, lost his footing and fell about 100 feet, striking the cliff face and landing in Lake Superior, the National Park Service said. The incident happened at about 7 p.m. Officials said the Alger County Sheriff s Office and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore park rangers responded. The investigation is ongoing by the National Park Service.   

Officials identify Lincoln Park man in Pictured Rocks falling death

A man who fell to his death from Miners Castle on Saturday has been identified as a 21-year-old metro Detroit resident, according to a report fromMLive. The National Park Service and Alger County Sheriff responded after a man fell near the upper viewing platform at around 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, according to a news release from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.  Officials identified the victim as Dominic Rotondi, of Lincoln Park, who was visiting the area with friends when he stepped over a barrier at the top of the Miners Castle and fell 100 feet onto the cliff face below and into Lake Superior, MLive reported.
