China relationship and the investments that we need to keep our nations secure, competitive, strong, and maintain our leadership on the world stage. Let me make clear, from the outset, when we talk about competing against china, and countering chinese influence, we are talking about competing against its government, not the Chinese People or the millions of Chinese Americans who helped make our country great. I am great secretary austin, blinken, and raimondo here to discuss the all of government approach that we need to meet this challenge. This is our first full committee hearing, i do want to thank a vice chair collins, as well as our chairs and Ranking Members testers, coons, shaheen, tester, and moran. For working on us with this topic and others that every member cares about. I want to thank all of my colleagues with their work in the recent weeks to jumpstart the appropriation process. And

Former President Trumps so called you hush money trial is resuming this morning. Heres President Trump yesterday. This is just a political witch hunt. Its election interfering. This is really, truly election interference and its a disgrace. The other thing that maybe is even more disgraceful is the gag order where i cant basically i have to watch every word i tell you people. You ask me a simple question, i cant talk about it. Because this judge has given me a gag order and says youll go to jail if you violate it. And frankly, you know what, our constitution is much more important than jail. Its not even close. Maria oh, my god. This is incredible. The witness yesterday said that trump did not personally direct a Trump Organization executive to set up reimbursement payments to ex lawyer michael cohen. But i definitely believe that that kind of regular order process was good for the institutioned good for institution, good for the debate about science, and hopefully people will continue in todays hearing to understand that and understand much of the debate that maybe wasnt as clear in a big public perspective as it was to all of us who were working behind the scenes daily to try to figure this policy out.
