New efforts are underway to save one of the most historical sites in north Sacramento from being demolished, but some fear the action could turn it into a neighborhood blight.
The new project will survey community members “where they are” to map out landmarks and places important to Sacramento’s LGBTQ+ community members, using a similar framework to the African American Experience Project.
After passing through the preservation commission this month, the item is set to be on the City Council’s docket early next year. The building is already listed on the national and state registers as a historic site, but not on the local register.
