Highlights Taxpayers can file their belated tax returns for the financial year 2021 until 31 May 2021. Last date for payment under the Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Act, 2020 is extended to 30th June 2021. The decision is expected to bring respite to many taxpayers who haven’t been able to file their TDS. Taking note of the pandemic, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) announced an extension in the last date for filing several statutory returns, including tax deducted at source (TDS) in some cases.  The decision is expected to bring respite to many taxpayers who haven’t been able to file their TDS due to the ongoing pandemic. According to CBDT’s official statement, taxpayers, who have received a notice, can file their tax returns, responding to appeals to commissioners, and raising objections on orders of dispute resolution panels. Govt extends some deadlines related to taxes | India News

NEW DELHI: The finance ministry on Saturday extended the deadline for making payment under the direct tax dispute settlement scheme Vivad Se Vishwas as well as some other dates to June 30 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A statement from the ministry said the extension has been done due to the representations received from various stakeholders and consultants that except time barring dates which were extended to April 30 should be further extended due to disruptions caused by the second surge of Covid-19 cases. “It has also been decided that time for payment of amount payable under the Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Act, 2020, without an additional amount, shall be extended to 30th June, 2021,” the finance ministry statement said.

Highlights The Centre will soon issue notifications to extend the dates for important issues NEW DELHI: In view of the severe Covid-19 pandemic raging unabated across the country affecting the lives of our people, and in view of requests received from taxpayers, tax consultants & other stakeholders that various time barring dates, which were earlier extended to 30th April 2021 by various notifications, as well as under the Direct Tax ‘Vivad se Vishwas’ Act, 2020, maybe further extended, the Government has extended certain timelines today.  In the light of several representations received (supra) and to address the hardship being faced by various stakeholders, the Central Government has decided to extend the time limits to 30th June 2021 in the following cases where the time limit was earlier extended to 30th, April 2021 through various notifications issued under the
