Hundreds of residents have evacuated their homes in Quebec as local crews race to repair critical infrastructure after floods washed through several municipalities in recent days, and officials say they re expecting even more rain.
Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning for Montreal, the Laurentians and Quebec City regions, with up to 70 millimetres of rain expected to fall in the Quebec City area until Monday.
A total rainfall amount of 40 millimetres is expected until Monday morning. The federal weather department said that localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible due to the excess rainfall. The city of Montreal has identified eight zones across the island that are most at risk for flooding.
