Waleffe Named NCAA Postgraduate Scholar

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson United’s former student-athlete Derek Waleffe has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for academic and athletic achievements. The NCAA awards postgraduate scholars a one-time grant worth $10,000, spread between the fall, spring, and summer. These scholarships are for student-athletes who excel academically and athletically in their final year of collegiate competition. Eligibility extends to all former student-athletes with an undergraduate degree from a NCAA member school, regardless of graduation date. These scholarships celebrate academic and athletic excellence. Clemson Blanks Wake Forest, Advances To ACC Championship Match

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – No. 18 Clemson (13-5-1) went on the road and controlled the entirety of the ACC semifinal match at No. 20 Wake Forest (14-5-0), defeating the fourth-seeded No. 20 Demon Deacons 2-0 on Wednesday night. Just as they did in the ACC quarterfinal victory over Duke, Brandon Parrish and Derek Waleffe found the back of the net and gave Clemson the victory. With the win, Clemson advanced to its 10th ACC Championship match, and as the No. 8 seed, became the lowest seed to ever reach the final. This will be the fifth time in Mike Noonan’s 13 season tenure that his Tigers will play for the ACC title.  The Tigers came into the match and immediately took it to the home side. Tigers Take Down Top-Seeded Duke, Advance to ACC Semifinals

DURHAM, N.C. – Clemson went on the road and knocked off undefeated and top-seeded Duke in the ACC Quarterfinal match on Sunday night by a final score of 2-0. Derek Waleffe scored his first goal this season and Brandon Parrish put the nail in the coffin late in the match to give Clemson its fourth straight victory.   This marks the 19th time the Tigers have advanced to the ACC semifinals, and 10th in Mike Noonan’s 13 year tenure.  The Tigers came into the match and immediately took control over its undefeated opponent. Clemson dominated possession in a physical first half, but was unable to break through in the first 45 minutes of action.
