10-year-old girl critically wounded when woman fires shots at dog, chief deputy says Columbia woman faces charges Updated: 2:13 PM CST Jan 15, 2021 Kimberly Renee Luter TRACKING THE COVID-19 VACCINE Columbia woman faces charges Updated: 2:13 PM CST Jan 15, 2021 A 10-year-old girl is in critical condition at a Jackson hospital after she was shot at her home in Marion County, authorities said.Chief Deputy Jamie Singley, with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, said in a news release that 34-year-old Kimberly Renee Luter was trying to shoot at a dog.“While firing at the dog, projectiles entered the residence, striking a 10-year-old female juvenile,” Singley said.Deputies were dispatched to the shooting on Franklin Drive shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday. They were then informed that the girl was on her way to a hospital. Singley said units from the Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia Police Department escorted the victim to the Marion General Hospital.

December 15, 2020 GMT MORGANTOWN, Miss. (AP) Authorities in Mississippi are investigating following a shootout with a man they said killed his parents. Deputies were called to a home on Highway 587 in the Marion County community of Morgantown on Monday afternoon and found two bodies inside, authorities said. A man at the home then started shooting at deputies, who returned fire, hitting him, authorities said. No officers were injured, and authorities said the man also shot himself in the process. The man was later identified as 43-year-old John Henry Wells, and authorities said he has been charged with two counts of murder. Marion County Coroner Jessie Graham identified the victims as Wells’ parents, 73-year-old James Wells and 61-year-old Rebecca Wells.

(WDAM) - A man accused of killing his parents in Marion County was taken into custody Monday after a shootout with sheriff’s deputies. Marion County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jamie Singley said John Henry Wells, 43, is being charged with two counts of murder. Marion County Coroner Jessie Graham identified the victims as 73-year-old James Wells and 61-year-old Rebecca Wells. Graham confirmed James and Rebecca are John Henry Wells’ parents.
