CELEBRATE: UHMBT celebrates Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week EQUALITY, Diversity and Human Rights Week is being celebrated at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT). Beginning on May 10 until 14, the conference will take place online and be opened by Aaron Cummins, Chief Executive of UHMBT with main speakers being Dr Sakthi Karunanithi, Director of Public Health for Lancashire County Council and Paul Deemer, Head of Diversity at NHS Employers. UHMBT’s ‘People Strategy’ aims to create ‘A Great Place to Work and a Great Place to be Cared For’. Hannah Chandisingh, Transformation Lead for Race Equality at UHMBT, said: “The last year has been a busy time for us all so Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week is a great opportunity for us to come together and celebrate some of the successes we have had during a tough year. ....

Nurses at King s Lynn s QEH receive national recognition for outstanding care Published: 13:32, 24 December 2020 Two nurses at Lynn s Queen Elizabeth Hospital have received national recognition in the Chief Nursing Officer Awards. Edmund Tabay, Deputy Chief Nurse, and Karen McGuire, Head of Nursing for Medical Division received the prestigious Silver Chief Nursing Officer Award, recognising the outstanding commitment they have given to their work. Edmund Tabay, deputy chief nurse at QEH, said: âI am truly humbled to accept this award and a huge thank you to the leadership team for the unconditional support extended to me to achieve this. I would like to acknowledge the passion and commitment of my nursing, midwifery and AHP colleagues that always inspire me to do more. Finally, I would like to share this award with all Filipinos in health and social care recognising their hard work in these unprecedented times.â ....
HOSPITAL staff have been presented with a ‘Citizens’ Award’ by Barrow Rotary Club. The Rotary Club, which was established in 1932, honoured the team at Furness General Hospital for their efforts during the pandemic. The move was a first in the club’s history. Every year Barrow Rotary Club donates a Christmas tree to the hospital and Optech Fibres Ltd of Barrow donates the lights. Lynne Wyre, Deputy Chief Nurse for UHMBT, was delighted to accept the Citizens’ Award on behalf of all of the staff at the hospital. There is usually an event with local schoolchildren singing Christmas carols next to the Christmas tree, however this will not take place this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. ....
