STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) - On Monday, the Staunton Sheriffâs Office announced the arrival of its new K-9 deputy, and sheâs a puppy. They are looking to Stauntonâs Elementary students to help name her.
Itâs been four months since K-9 Deputy Cara died tragically while attempting to find a gun someone had thrown out of their car. She is missed by many, but the Sheriffâs Office is ready to build on her legacy of helping other agencies.

STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) â The Staunton Police Department and Augusta County Sheriffâs Office say three individuals were detained after a vehicle pursuit in Staunton Monday night.
According to a joint press release from the Staunton Police Department and the Augusta County Sheriffâs Office, officials from both law enforcement offices were at the Staunton Walmart for an investigation on Monday, Dec. 21 at approximately 8 p.m. when, unrelated to the investigation, they observed an individual wanted on outstanding warrants inside a vehicle as a passenger.
