new at 11:00 a state of emergency. the governors of florida and north carolina both declaring one as hurricane matthew churns this way. good evening. i m wendy ryan. i m paul la jamison uhler. this is some of the heavy rain people in jamaica are already seeing. the storm is expected to hit haiti the hardest. let s go right to chief meteorologist denis phillips. this is going to be a devastating night for haiti. this will be moving on shore right on the western tip of haiti with winds of about 145 miles per hour, a surge of incredible rainfall totals. this is a nasty hurricane, category 4, even stronger now than it was earlier on. the lowest pressure that s been recorded at 934 millibars. where is it going? the new track that just came out has given us a little bit of a change compared to the 5:00 track. and as we expected it is a little more to the west. our computer models have been trending that way for the last day or so, so we kind of figured the hurricane center wo
filling out bubbles. one thing you need to double check. and, the vice presidential debate, it s time for the now. and here we go, here s what you need to know about the biggest story. hurricane matthew they have tropical storm watches in parts of the state. and, president. obama canceling his trips to miami. that store made landfall night out a hours ago. about eight hours ago. torrential downpours, and winds of 145 miles per hour. and, south carolina s governor saying that they will evacuate coastal community starting tomorrow morning. in their asking people who live on the coast to go at least 100 miles inland. check out these lines at gas stations. the chopper flying over a costco gas station. it s back to probably out of the parking lot. the governor saying today, don t take this storm lightly. also a problem today, flights are canceled out of tampa as well. and, let s get over to cheap neurologist today. with the latest track. let s go by schlitz go one by o
it is a category four hurricane. now, this is the latest track. and i wanted to show you this because, you can see where comes very close to florida and it goes right up the eastern seaboard and maybe skims cape cod. have a lot of folks that live locally from new england so you may want to keep an eye on that. wanted to focus more on what the impact is from the sta is taking them about 30 or 40 miles east of the florida east coast. and, if this track were to verify they would have that along the east coast. and, still close enough. two days before the going to happen but there is time for this to nudge west. neck of the woods, not nearly as ominous. and, i think that it actually swings back tropical storm force winds in our area. overall, look at the spaghetti models. they go out to see. and, if you live in the interior counties who are more nervous about the storm out to the center and that would be one of those counties. and ryan is live on any preparations up they have.
and, it was such a close call. and, if you have friends on the east coast drop them a call. this is a storm that could track at 5 pm, it has drawn closer and are reliable models continues to hinge that this is going to be a very close call. and at last check this is about 20 miles from the projective path. in the actual landfall the treasure coast now look at the margin of error, a lot of folks say that, it s coming this way. if it were to go west it would weaken significantly and i just don t think that it s there. we are very comfortable with this track. and, it s not nearly as much for us look how large this is. or highlands county. and, later tomorrow and into thursday and friday and, there is certainly a blend, but the most reliable models are right here coming in from the southeast along the space coast and, jacksonville curving out into the area. and, and how it impacts our area. video coming in, church in haiti. and, for the st. petersburg area. this is video of the
