For the majority of the campaign up to last weekend s convention, either former House Speaker Kirk Cox or state Sen. Amanda Chase were considered the frontrunners for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.
So much for frontrunner status. Cox was eliminated after four rounds of ballot counting Monday, and Chase followed him to the exit in the next round.
