A funeral was held Monday for the Delawarepolice officer who died at the hospital last month after suffering head injuries while responding to a call for help at a housing subdivision. The body of Delmar Police Cpl. Keith Heacook, who was a 22-year veteran of the force, was transported from Short Funeral Home in Delmar, Delaware, to Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury, Maryland, Monday. Hundreds of law enforcement officials as well as members of the community, attended the funeral, Fox 5 DC reported. Roads by the church were to be closed off since around 4 a.m., WJZ reported. ....

Heath Heacook, hundreds of police officers from throughout Delaware and Maryland joined together May 10 at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury, Md., to memorialize the 22-year law-enforcement veteran. Heacook, 54, died April 28 at Baltimore Shock Trauma, three days after he was brutally attacked as he answered a call reporting a fight in progress at a Delmar residence. Heacook was escorted from Short Funeral Home in Delmar to the church, where visitation lasted two hours. Following the service, he was escorted back to Delmar where family and friends held private interment. Delmar police officers serve on both sides of the Delaware and Maryland state line. ....
May 6, 2021 Jimmie Allen is coming home to honor a fallen police officer and his family. Delmar Police Cpl. Keith Heacook was responding to a call for a fight at a home on the Maryland-Delaware line on April 25 when he was allegedly assaulted by a 30-year-old man. After being taken to shock trauma, Cpl. Heacook passed away from his injuries a few days later. Country star Jimmie Allen, a Milton, Delaware native, heard about the terrible situation and expressed his thoughts ina video to social media, “It’s a terrible situation. I’m definitely keeping his family and friends in my prayers.” Allen also revealed he would be coming home to play a show at the Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach, Delaware on May 10. There will be a $10 cover charge with all proceeds going to Heacook’s family. ....

Monday, April 26, 2021 Country music artist and Cape Henlopen High School graduate Jimmie Allen has announced he will play an acoustic show Monday, May 10, to benefit the family of fallen Delmar Police Cpl. Keith Heacook. The show at the Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door. “That’s a terrible situation. I’m definitely keeping his family and friends in my prayers,” Allen said in a short video posted to Facebook May 4. “I wish it was a better situation, but we’re going to do what we can to raise money for Officer Heacook’s family.” ....
