⢠At 7:04 a.m., police responded to the 600 block of Highway 101 after a caller reported his vehicle was broken into and several items were taken into.
⢠At 7:53 a.m., police responded to the 800 block of 3
rd Street after a caller reported someone broke the ATM.
⢠At 8:17 a.m., police responded to the 600 block of Highway after a caller reported someone stole three bicycles off his vehicle.

Fundraiser started for five kids of Yreka couple killed by falling redwood tree

A Go Fund Me campaign has been created for the five children of a Yreka couple who died March 25 when a redwood tree fell on their car as they drove on Highway 199, west of Hiouchi in Del Norte County.
Jessica, 45, and Jake Woodruff, 36, were on an annual trip up the coast for Jessica’s 45th birthday, according to campaign organizers.
The father of the two older children still lives in the Yreka area.
The 175-foot redwood tree fell directly on top of the Woodruff s Honda Accord while the husband was driving south on the scenic highway north of Walker Road at 11:49 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol in Crescent City.

With Contract Negotiations at a Stand-Still, Smith River Fire Threatens To Cancel Service To Tolowa Dee-ni Properties

More than a year and a half after its contract with the Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation ended, the Smith River Fire Protection District says it will cease providing fire and emergency medical services to tribal trust property, including Lucky 7 Casino and some tribal housing, starting April 25.
Friday s announcement comes as negotiations between the parties in particular, over how much the tribe should pay the district for its services have broken down.
