Sporadic armed clashes continued in Shah Joi, Tarnak Wa Jaldak, Mizan and Arghandab districts in Zabul province. In Hilmand province, fighting between the ANSF and an NSAG was reported in Nahr-e-Saraj, Lashkargah, Nad-e-Ali and Nawa-e-Barakzaiy districts. Airstrikes were also reported in Nawa-e-Barakzaiy and Nahr-e-Saraj and clearing operations of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the same districts are reportedly ongoing. In Kandahar province, the security situation remained volatile mainly in Zheray, Panjwayi, Arghandab, Shah Wali Kot, Arghestan and Shorabak districts. Afghanistan: Weekly Humanitarian Update (21 – 27 December 2020) Format South: Ongoing fighting affecting humanitarian activities such as needs assessments Fighting between Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and a non-state armed group (NSAG) continued in Hilmand, Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces. Taliban Exhume, Behead Former Police Chief's Body – Afghanistan Times

AT News TARINKOT: A member of Meshrano Jirga, Amanullah Azeemi on Sunday blamed Taliban militants for taking out the dead body of Dehrawud district police chief from grave and then chopped off his head. Dehrawud District Police Chief, Shah Mohammad was killed in a bomb explosion four months ago. Jan Mohammad Karimi, brother of the slain district police chief said the Taliban had dug out the body of his brother from the grave and chopped off his head. Senator Amanullah Azeemi who represents Uruzgan province, told the house that Taliban exhumed the body of the Dehrawud district police chief and chopped off his head four months after he was killed.

Afghanistan: Weekly Humanitarian Update (14 – 20 December 2020) Format South: fighting continued in all provinces, 1,000 people displaced Fighting between Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and a non-state armed group (NSAG) continued in Arghandab, Zheray and Panjwayi districts of Kandahar, Nad-e-Ali, Nawa-e-Barakzaiy and Nahr-e-Saraj districts in Hilmand and Dehrawud and Gizab districts in Uruzgan and some parts of Zabul province. The presence of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and military operations restricted civilians’ movements and affected people’s access to health services. In Kandahar province, the clashes continued in Arghandab, Zheray and Panjwayi, Arghestan, Maruf and Maywand districts. A total of 11 civilians were reportedly killed by an airstrike that hit a house in Arghandab during clashes between the ANSF and an NSAG. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
