NAB initiates inquiry into 3,500 acres of state land fraud

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Karachi, has initiated an inquiry into an alleged mega fraud of changing the ownership of 3,500 acres of state land of district Thatta to private persons.
The NAB sources said that the said forgery had been committed by a mafia with the connivance of some corrupt officials of deputy commissioner s office, Thatta, and Sindh Board of Revenue.
In an official letter addressed to an individual Rasool Bux Jakhro, resident of the same district Thatta, it was described that the competent authority of NAB has taken cognizance of the offence of corruption and corrupt practices of forgery and committing fraud in the record of rights pertaining to 3,500 acres of Deh Kohistan, Taluka Jhampir, district Thatta, and then manipulating the same through further sale to owners of a Karachi based private builder which according to the Bureau is cognizable offenc ....

Draft rules for the Sindh Corporal Punishment Act 2016 were presented during the provincial cabinet meeting on Tuesday, while National Accountability Bureau s (NAB) letter seeking domicile-wise details of all government employees drew the ire of ministers.
In an eventful meeting, the Sindh Senior Citizens Welfare Rules 2021 were approved, as were amendments to the Forest Act to punish encroachers. In addition, draft bye-laws were presented on the population control and mass vaccination of stray dogs, while Rs500 million were approved to clean 41 storm drains ahead of the monsoon season. ....

KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet in its around five-hour-long session on Tuesday condemned a letter written by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to the provincial government seeking domicile-wise details of its employees from grades 1 to 22 and termed the letter “politically motivated”, written at the behest of PM’s Special Assistant Shahzad Akbar.
The cabinet said that the information sought by NAB was beyond its mandate. It demanded that the NAB chairman conduct an inquiry into the matter.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah here at CM House, was attended by provincial ministers, advisers, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Planning and Development chairman M. Waseem and other provincial secretaries concerned. ....
