captioning sponsored by cbs this is the cbs evening news with scott pelley. pelley: good evening. a notorious cold case suddenly turned very hot today. the case of the boston strangler. prosecutors say that for the first time dna has linked albert deval desalvo to one of the victims with nearly 100% certainty. and now investigators plan to dig up desalvo s remains to do more tests. terrell brown is in boston and he has the latest on this inves on that began half a century ago. reporter: for years in the 1960s the case of the boston strangler baffled police. 11 unmarried women, ages 19 to 85 sexually assaulted and killed in their homes. the last victim was parry sullivan. casey scherrman is her nephew. mary was 19 years old. she was the joy of her irish catholic family. she grew up on cape cod. was a 1962 graduate of barnstable high school. and she had moved up to boston four days before she was murdered. reporter: unlike the other murders, police found semen in sul
that slammed into a small town and exploded. 45 people are still missing. this is cnn newsroom. the public getting a look at the 19-year-old terror suspect. he and his brother are blamed for killing three people in that race wounding more than 250 people and killing an m.i.t. police officer a few days later. reporter: it s been more than 11 weeks seize dzhokhar was found bleeding this this boat and bleeding profusely. his wounds will have largely heeled but those of the people he injured remain painful. there s 30 charges against him including using a weapon of mass destruction. it has such symbolic importance to these families to show that they continue to care for their loved ones. reporter: his lawyers are not commenting. a note found suggests retribution. i don t like killing innocent people but stop killing our innocent people and we will stop. he s not acting under the act or guidance of his older brother. no one is telling him to write these things. i think t
