[applause] there is so much to say about this remarkable man but he asked me to keep it short and i will. he is an award winner in many categories, he is a favorite of television audiences, a familiar face and a calming voice and for years he manned the anchor chair at nbc news and he is the author of six best sellers. he is a native of south dakota and graduated from the university of south doakotdakota and began his journalism career in omaha. he was the editor of nbc nightly news with tom brokaw from 1983-2005. i am give you the barest highlights here. he is still producing movies and providi
