DePaul SGA Judicial Board dismisses all allegations from last month's hearing

DePaul SGA Judicial Board to investigate allegations of spring quarter election rule violations

The DePaulia Theodora Koulouvaris, Staff Writer|May 27, 2021 (DePaul Student Government Association) The Judicial Board of DePaul’s Student Government Association (SGA) will hold a hearing Thursday to investigate allegations of rule violations in the organization’s recent election. SGA announced the hearing three hours prior to its start at 6 p.m., and did not include a Zoom link for students outside of SGA to attend.  The hearing comes after SGA released the results of its spring quarter election May 14 on Instagram, where it announced a protest was filed regarding a candidate’s campaign and that the Judicial Board was in the process of reviewing the complaint.

SGA election: Watfae Zayed, Kevin Holechko voted next president and vice president

The DePaulia Rebecca Meluch, News Editor|May 14, 2021 Zayed and Holechko ran on four key initiatives, according to their official campaign Instagram page:  Defunding the DePaul FOP tuition discount Creating a new scholarship to help students purchase/rent their textbooks Increasing communication between university administration & students Free university counseling services after the pandemic.  Zayed previously held the position of SGA’s Vice President, and Holechko was previously the senator for the College of Education.  The pair ran against Wesley Janicki and Keith Norward, who previously held the roles as Executive Vice President of Facility Operations and the Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs.
