A Bucks County spokesman denied the county is withholding funding from the coroner’s office, contradicting an earlier statement from the county’s finance director.
In response to new allegations Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck made in an amended lawsuit filed last week, the county on Tuesday said the revised complaint was filed after the county filed paperwork seeking to dismiss the “meritless lawsuit.”
“The commissioners have a fiduciary responsibility and moral responsibility to assure all county offices function well, and we have always done what is necessary to ensure that,” the statement added.
Buck, a Democrat elected in 2019, is suing the county’s three commissioners seeking the return of a little more than $1 million it cut from her budget request last December.
