good morning, we ve been talking about the effects of the american revolution and framing that around the question of how revolutionary was the american revolution? what kind of changes could it negotiate in american society, american law? why should we think of the american revolution as a revolution rather than a war for independence? and we talked about this in various frameworks. we talk about whether the revolution altered the social structure, and the last time we met were talking about the impact of the revolutionary on african americans and on the institution of slavery. we saw in that case, the legacy was quite mixed. the revolution said the institution of slavery on the path of destruction in the northern states but was instrumental and trying to deepening and strengthening institutions in the southern states. today, i would like to talk about two topics that are closely interrelated. and that our two sides of the same coin, i want to talk today about how the revolu
