left significant damage, but also claimed the lives of at least three people, two were killed in car crashes today. a taxi driver lost control of his vehicle and plunged into thoakland river. it happened near the michigan exit where a tree fell on a woman. est ware it happened in san francisco. a piece of scaffolding fell down on 7th and market streets where police closed a part of market. another scaffolding collapse happened around 3:00 this afternoon in california near spruce. no one was hurt. and also south of market fierce winds toppled a tree near 7th and bryant. it came down on two cars and you can see the broken limbs, branches, and leaves were resting on the tops of those dented vehicles. and one of several trees that blew down in novato fell right on top of third street and grant. no one was inside that truck and no one was hurt. the tree also pulled down two to three power poles knocking out power to more than 2,000 customers. not far from there a second tree
55, 56. so it feels warm to you, it is. surge of moisture in southern california. getting the rain. this is making a beeline. really nothing to stop it. if you re heading to southern california, they are going to get some pretty good rain down there. it s already happening in los angeles. our next system will be be in a here later tonight and tomorrow. that will give us some pretty good rain, as well. we ll have an update on over the weekend, wind gusts and heavier rainfall amounts. upper 50s to near 60s, sal, on the temperatures today. we do have flooding out there. we have slow traffic. we re going to start in solano county and take a look at your drive between vacaville, taylor, and vallejo, and it s go took tough commute, and it s not goto stop raining today. light rain today. not a bad commute here in front of the oakland coliseum. still okay at the bay bridge toll plaza, although surprisingly crowded. i think people are trying get an early start on the morning commute
still well above average throughout our area. nbc first alert meteorologist bill henley is here with a bit of a mixed bag. that was a summer preview. you can look forward to that in june, july and august and today we do have a mixed bag. we saw sunshine this morning and the clouds racing and now it is a steady, light rain for philadelphia. you can see the raindrops on the lens and the view from the aquarium. look at the rain from the suburbs to new jersey and delaware and even through trenton and this is farther north than what was first expected and it will not be all day. the showers will dry out this afternoon and we will see sunshine again. the lehigh valley has dry out and the rain has ended there. 70 degrees at 2:00 and holding into the low 70s this afternoon and the wind shifting and that s going to give us a warm-up, allow for a warm-up and not for the 80s, not for today. late-day sunshine in philadelphia, and up to 72 degrees for the suburbs and the jersey shore
