DIPHU The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), a regional party active in the three hill districts of Assam, has expressed dissatisfaction and discontent over the draft proposal published by the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies and Assembly constituencies in the hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. In a press conference held at ASDC central committee in Diphu, the Publicity Secretary, Daniel Teron referred to the memorandum submitted to the Secretary, ECI, in regard to the draft proposal for delimitation of Parliament and Assembly constituencies in the state of Assam on June 20, 2023. DIPHU Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), a regional political party of the three hill districts of Assam — Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao — has suggested the Election Commission of India (ECI) on delimitation of assemblies and parliamentary constituencies. During a press conference held at ASDC central committee office in Diphu on Monday, the party suggested the Delimitation Commission of India (DCI) that considering the vast area and lack of proper communication the existing No. 3 Autonomous District (ST) Parliamentary constituency should be bifurcated into two more new parliamentary constituencies including one for Dima Hasao Parliamentary constituency, one for West Karbi Anglong and retaining one seat for Karbi Anglong. The publicity secretary, Daniel Teron at the conference said also suggested on creating three more new assembly seats each for Diphu LA segment, Howraghat LA and Bokajan LA, three more new seats for Baithalangso LA and Halflong ....
Our Correspondent Diphu, Aug. 26 (EMN): The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) of Karbi Anglong has opposed to what it termed as ‘give and take policy’ adopted by the Meghalaya and Assam governments pertaining to the inter-state border issue. A chief minister-level meeting on Assam-Meghalaya border dispute was held in Guwahati on August 21, wherein the house decided to form a three-regional level committee to solve disputes in six remaining border areas between the two states. ASDC on Friday submitted a memorandum to the chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, apprising him to take up immediate steps with the government of Assam in order to avoid hostility between the two states. Our Correspondent Diphu, Aug. 22(EMN): A sit-in demanding immediate implementation of autonomous state was jointly organised by Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), KSA, Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) and ASDC – Youth Front on Autonomous State issue at Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park in Diphu on Monday. In the demonstration, the secretary, incharge of publicity, Daniel Teron blamed the All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) for autonomous state implementation failure. Teron said, ‘we should have got the autonomous state in 1969, but the APHLC betrayed us.
