RUMC suspends visitation at hospital due to increase in COVID cases

Effective Monday, Dec. 28, visitation is suspended with the following exceptions:
Pediatrics and NICU – one caregiver/support person limited to a parent, guardian, or family care partner per pediatric patient is permitted on the unit.
Labor and delivery – One support person and/or trained doula are allowed to be with the patient during antepartum, labor, delivery and postpartum care. The designated support person should remain the same during the course of admission.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A 7-year-old Staten Island girl wants just one thing from Santa this year for her father to be safe.
In a letter to Santa Claus, Bianca, of Huguenot, asked him to keep her father, Jeremy, who is an emergency room doctor in the Bronx, safe while he’s helping sick people.

“Can you please protect my dad? He is helping sick people and we want him to be safe. He makes us so happy,” Bianca wrote in her letter to Santa.

Dr. Jay Nfonoyim was the first to be inoculated at the West Brighton hospital.
“This is not going to be the end of it,” he said. “It’s just a very good beginning. With this, we can continue building upon it and continue doing the good things we have been doing.”
Nfonoyim noted that while some people are apprehensive about getting vaccinated because it is new, the technology that created it has been around for decades.
