new poll shows that six out of ten americans are uneasy about president trump s ability to handle north korea. our chief global affairs anchor martha raddatz starts us off. good morning. reporter: good morning. the trump administration has always said a military option with north korea remains on the table but as a last resort. but these words from president trump did not make it sound that way. after the president, the dramatic escalation. north korea best not make any more threats to the united states. they will be met with fire and fury. reporter: and one u.s. territory just over 2,000 miles away from north korea in the crosshairs. overnight, the small pacific island of guam home to crucial american military bases and more than 7,000 u.s. forces on alert after north korea said in a statement its leaders are seriously considering a plan to target the territory with missiles. an attack or threat on guam is a threat or attack on the united states. reporter: this aft

showing campers what not to do on your trip to the great outdoors. today is decision day in ukraine, and the votes are in. election officials say most people in crimea voted to breakaway from ukraine and join the russian federation. it s the highest voter turp out they have seen. in u.s., they have denied the referendum. nick schifrin joins us from the crimean capital simferepol. what have you seen today? the results are coming in literally as we speak. the election commissioners are speaking to the press. they announced over 80% of crimea voted. we believe according to initial reports about the exit polls, over 90% of the peninsula voted to join russia. i must say we were out in four or five different polling sayings and we didn t see an until peace of evidence that exit pollsters were there working. we should take the numbers with a grain of salt. bottom line is they have decided to join russia. how concerned are people across ukraine that these polls are not legitima
hundreds of thousands of people die each year because the prescriptions they need aren t the real deal. we begin in southern california where seven people are dead after afternoon overnight shooting spree near the campus of uc santa barbara. they say people were gunned down in drive high by shootings. al jazeera s brian rooney is there right now. what do we know at this point? reporter: isla vista is a student residential area off of the santa barbara campus. it is crowded with students at any time of day or night. last night, friday night obviously, a lot of people were out. apparently a black bmw pulled up to a group of people and the driver started shooting. there wereples nearby who engaged him. we don t have the exact sequence but there ended up being as many as nine locations where gunshots were fired. it ended with the gunman in the bmw dead. six other people were killed by the gunman. seven were injured. the police are still sorting it out. it s a big crime scene.
