Detour around Whitewater State Park begins Monday
Minnesota Highway 74 will be closed for bridge construction at the south end of the park through October.

WHITEWATER STATE PARK That quick getaway to one of Southeast Minnesota’s favorite nature spots will take a little extra planning for 2021.
Starting Monday and going through October, Minnesota Highway 74 will be a construction zone at the south end of the park while Minnesota Department of Transportation crews reconstruct four historic bridges in a $4.6 million project.
“These (bridges) were started in 1935 or ’36, in that range, over the winter,” said Jeremy Darst, a naturalist and historian for the park. ....
