ALPENA– It took longer than expected, but the Thunder Bay Disabled American Veterans Chapter 61, in Alpena, finally received its new van.
The DAV ordered the van in late 2019 to provide rides for veterans to and from downstate medical appointments. The COVID-19 pandemic slowed the vehicle’s construction and delivery.
The 10-person van cost $42,000, with the DAV paying $17,000, while the Columbia Trust at Ford Motor Co. paid half of the total van cost.
