Famous electronic music duo Daft Punk split up recently, much to the dismay of fans all around the world. Known for their iconic helmet attire, their songs are still very much a big hit and played everywhere.
When their split was announced, the internet was at its hilarious best coming up with witty memes and posts on the duo. Now, even Surat police s social media handle joined the Daft Punk bandwagon and shared a post showcasing them.
However, this post had a special and important message attached to it.
Nostalgia is a tricky thing, but Daft Punk did it right.
It already feels strange to refer to Daft Punk in the past tense, but when you think about it, the iconic house duo have always been primed for 20/20 hindsight. With Daft Punk announcing their breakup after what many believe to be a practically flawless 28-year career, the nostalgic fabric of their music looms brighter than ever.
Looking back, their entire body of work feels like a musical expression of “Don’t be sad it’s over, be glad it happened.” Even at their peak as one of electronic music’s most forward-looking artists, the specter of that past shaded the spaces between every pulsating beat forward.

The Grammy-winning music duo Daft Punk has decided to split up. Formed in 1993, the French group that redefined electronic music announced their decision on Monday through an 8-minute video called Epilogue.
Kathryn Frazier, the band’s longtime publicist, confirmed the news of the split to news agency
Associated Press. French musicians Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo who formed Daft Punk were known for donning huge helmets and adopting robotic mannerisms when in public. The pair go long back together as they met each other at a Paris school in 1987 and had even formed an indie rock band named Darling before the creation of Daft Punk.
