Genea-Musings: 03/07/21

time for some more Genealogy Fun!! Here is your assignment, should you decide to accept it (you ARE reading this, so I assume that you really want to play along - cue the Mission Impossible music!): 1)  What is your all-time favorite song? Yep, number 1. It s hard to choose sometimes. If you made your favorite all-time Top 40 music selections, what would be #1? 2. Tell us about it. Why is it a favorite? Do you have special memories attached to this song?  3.  Put it in your own blog post, in a comment to this post, or in a Facebook post.  Please leave a link in a comment to this post.

Genea-Musings: Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 28 February to 6 March 2021

Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 28 February to 6 March 2021  Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts. My criteria for Best of . are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don t list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts. Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week: 1)  Moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Research Group Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom with 28 attendees (iincluding 6 guests).   In the first hour, I shared about RootsTech, the new MyHeritage features, FamilySearch 2020 highlights, Ancestry management changes, the NGS 2021 conference, my second FOREVER box (even showed one home movie), and discussed the Genelaogical Proof Standard and Evidence Analysis Process Map.  In the second hour, attendees asked questions and shaed their research successes and challenges. 2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society monthly program meeting, which featured Thomas MacEntee on Coded Census: Deciphering U.S. Census Codes and Getting Ready For the 1950 Census.
