One area of Derby is 10 times more likely to see crime than its most peaceful suburb, stark new figures have revealed.
Figures for 2020 show a massive difference in the crime rate across Derby s 17 wards. There were a staggering 28,000 offences committed in the city last year.
The highest crime rate was in Arboretum where 6,814 crimes were reported between January and December last year - which is approximately 308 crimes per 1,000 people - much higher than the city average of 111 crimes per 1,000 people and a national average of 73.9 per 1,000 population.

Before the pair’s fines were rescinded, the chairman of the West Yorkshire Police Federation Brian Booth had urged the Government to make coronavirus regulations “crystal clear” to stop officers “being made scapegoats for poor policy”.
Mr Booth said officers trying to enforce the rules have been “hung out to dry” as a result of “woolly laws”.
After receiving the apology from police, Ms Allen said in a pre-prepared statement: “This afternoon we both received a phone call from Derbyshire Police.
“After reviewing our case, our fines have been rescinded and we have received an apology on behalf of the constabulary for the treatment we received.
