What we saw yesterday in plain view, was another violation of this nation. Not only do we see the failure to protect one of the three branchs of government, but we saw a clear failure to carry out equal justice. They used to say in the senate excuse a point of personal privilege. An hour and a half after the chaos started i got a text from my granddaughter who is a senior in her last semester at university of pennsylvania. She sent me a photo of military people in full military gear. Scores of them lining the front of the lincoln memorial. No one can tell me that if that had been a group of black lives matter Group Protesting yesterday that they would not have been treating very, very differently than the mob of thugs that stormed the capital. Wait this long for a confirmation hearing. Why so long and what do we expect to happen now . Do we expect him to get bipartisan support . It is expected that hell get bipartisan support and for the delay here is a mixture of politics and politics. Republicans did not want to move forward on the the proceedings during the impeachment trial. They did not allow the effort to be green lighted. And this is also held up because of a power sharing agreement that allows the 50 50 senate to organize. So Lindsey Graham who was a republican in the minority, was the chairman of this committee at the beginning of this new congress because that power sharing agreement had not been in place. That is no longer the case. And dick durbin is the chairman and now theyre moving ahead.
