Hard to quantify how many, but it will be crowded. that could be a 2016 redux for donald trump. there was more than that in 2016. what the do you think? i think that s probably right. you know, once you get past three or four candidates, i think the math is easier for trump. his base seems to be 30 to 40, 45% of the republican party. so you know, once you get past a dozen, does it matter at that point? neil: you might be right. jessica, we ve always seen the role of a woman who is now vice president of the united states, hillary clinton, of course ran for president and didn t get the brass ring. but the irony is there had been female leaders all over the globe but they tended to be more conservative. i go back to angela merkel in germany and maggie thatcher in britain. if we are to have a female
Offers fewer benefits for, you know, regular people that may work a job have a small business and a separate tax code for those who, you know, earn millions of dollars and have a complex financial arrangement. lots of business ownerships, et cetera. this is showing stark divide. that s what democrats highlighted here. certainly we see in most years trump paid very little or no taxes whatsoever. what can we read into in terms of how what the tax returns show us in terms of whether or not donald trump who of course ran in 2016 as a successful businessman, a tight industry, was he actually that? it shows he lost millions of dollars while in the white house. that wouldn t indicate, you know, that businesses were successful. there are quirks that make, you know, especially for real estate that owners can claim these big deductions even for assets that are appreciating in value. so there is a little disconnect
What does this mean for the democratic field? first, just a little bit of new news. yesterday, you said i was up in massachusetts and we talked a little bit about how quickly we would see elizabeth warren moving to those states. she is indeed going to be in iowa this weekend. she has events planned in four cities. what you see here is this effort by elizabeth warren to really get ahead of the rest of the field. she wants to claim the mantle of the leader of the progressive wing. as you point to in that washington post piece, there are going to be many other democrats claiming that same mantle. it was trying to get ahead of bernie sanders who of course ran and was the progressive candidate in the race you might be able to say in 2016. and also the likes of somebody new. sherrod brown for instance in ohio who himself was just re-elected in 2018 in ohio running on a progressive mantle. as warren was announcing yesterday, his aides were
