The over-budget project caused the scope of work to shift from a standalone building near the Home Depot off U.S. 40 that addressed a broad range of needs to an extension of the existing Justice Center. Now, the cost is about $24 million and it will mostly fund more space for county employees working in criminal justice.
The developer is asking for the parcel to be rezoned from rural residential to a community commercial as well as a conditional-use permit for eight one-bedroom, nine two-bedroom and five three-bedroom townhomes.
The Summit County Council agreed that more work is needed to address short-term rentals, but only one elected official voiced support for a moratorium on nightly rental licenses during Wednesday’s public hearing.
