Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega reinstated a city face covering mandate on Wednesday, one day after he was sworn into office.
Former Mayor Jim Lane had rescinded the city s mask mandate in September, three months after it was first put in place during Arizona s summer COVID-19 surge.
Ortega told The Arizona Republic on Thursday that his proclamation strengthens Gov. Doug Ducey’s “Mask Up Arizona” campaign and Maricopa County’s existing mask mandate.  ....
