Declaring a fiscal emergency and reaching a rare compromise, the Lompoc City Council has agreed to ask voters to boost the tax for some parts of the cannabis industry.
On Tuesday night, the council had a series of unanimous votes related to holding a special vote-by-mail election on Aug. 31 as the city wrestles with ongoing financial woes and a flourishing cannabis industry.
