Besides his regular work of bee removals, honey extractions, producing bees, making beehives and facilitating pollinating for civic, business and residential needs, Cape Coral-based beekeeper B. Keith Councell didn’t let the pandemic curtail his passion for enlightening us about the insects.
The vice chairman of the Florida Farm Bureau (FFB) and former president of the Southwest Florida Beekeepers Association had led only one Zoom session prior to March 2020. Since then, he has embraced the technology, having hosted more than a dozen such events for the FFB, 4-H clubs and others. Rather than the static nature of many other online events, such sessions emanating from his Councell Farms have included the opening of some of his many hives many housing about 5,000 bees to showcase plenty of buzzing action.
