and this is part of cory booker s point. what do you plan on actually doing? beyond policy, what do these actions look like? so this is going to continue to be a point of contention. ypd the point of contention, though, beyond it being a point of contention, is it a point that will make critical voting blocs, african-americans, who we know are going to vote with the democrats, but will it make a difference to their vote what they hear on that stage, what they see in this proposal and who they ultimately decide to support? i think it may make a difference. we have to remember that one of the groups that is perhaps most perhaps most infected and particularly in terms of depressive turnout will be black men. black men are going to be looking at questions of policy at mass incarceration, particularly with because they are within this affected pool. black women who also make up the base of the democratic party are
speaking to the kinds of unifying of the country that we have to do right now. a morning consult poll on african-american support for the candidates, joe biden does very well, better than the african-american candidates in the race. now that may be just because everyone knows joe biden s name. if joe biden figures out a way to respond to these things properly, does he get to save himself amongst african-american voters? i think he does. there is a lot of time between now and the primary and then a general election. the issue for joe biden is is he going to learn from his mistakes over the past few weeks because he is making mistakes. he is not framing, he s trying to make points and not framing them in effective ways that show who he is today. i think that was cory booker s point. that is absolutely senator booker s point. i think what he was trying to do in chicago today was say here s who i am. if you notice he said he
with african-american and hispanic americans? e he seems like he could beat trump, they care about that. he worked with president obama. and if joe biden gets the support, he will be the nominee. if he les the support, he s not. and this topic opens door is the joking about calling people boy versus calling people son, cory booker s point, it opens the door to the conversation about the crime bill. it opens the door to the conversation about joe biden s record on bussing and a whole bunk of stuff on policy that will be properly litigated right now. is joe biden has a long record and some of that record you could never adopt those positions on mass incarceration, three strikes and you re out, on a whole bunch of stuff. for african-american voters now, you could never have those positions in 2019. now we will have the
