A Halifax Street once named for a colonial governor who put a bounty on indigenous scalps will be renamed after a Mi’Kmaw matriarch who dedicated her life to residential school survivors.
The return of Halifax s Canada Day celebrations honoured the first people on the lands now known as Nova Scotia. The city of Halifax hosted an event called Kanata – the Iroquois word for village – that can also mean community.
