As we approach the end of another year, people have asked me what we have achieved so far on Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). I replied, MA63 is just two letters and two numbers, and maybe nothing more.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Ewon Benedick said there are now 14,975 cooperatives in the country, generating a total income of RM22.4 billion. He said with a membership of over seven million, the contribution of the cooperative movement through the collection of share capital and fees was as much as RM16.5 billion, while asset generation amounted to RM156.2 billion.
