Since time immemorial, air power has been a critical factor in determining the outcome of any war. Essentially, for an efficient, effective and functional air force, capacity development is critical and fundamental. For the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the above rings true.
In its 57 years as a professional fighting force, the NAF has had its fair share of neglect and setback, just like any other sector of the economy, but from all indications, the NAF has a lot to celebrate especially with the progresses it has recorded over the years. Asides capacity building and welfare boost for personnel, they have also not done badly in acquisition of weaponry and platforms.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), said Friday it had concluded plans to induct the newly procured JF-17 thunder aircraft into its inventory as part of activities to mark its 57th anniversary celebration billed for the Nigerian Air Force Base, Makurdi, Benue State.
The service also announced plans to launch the first ever military telemedicine facility in Abuja.
The facility is expected to enhance provision of excellent medicare to personnel and their dependants as well as civilian beneficiaries at the lowest possible cost.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to continue to safeguard the nation’s territorial integrity against any form of threat. AVM Hassan Abubakar, the Chairman, Organising Committee, NAF 57th Anniversary Celebration, made this known while briefing newsmen. He said the NAF had grown over the years into a formidable force in its efforts to carry out its core mandate of protecting the country against its enemies. Abubakar added that within the West African Sub-region, NAF has carried out several assignments, especially in area of securing lives and property. He said that the theme of the celebration is: ‘Enhancing Nigerian Air Force Airpower Capabilities for Effective Joint Operations in Response to Contemporary National Security Challenges’.
